About Us

Workplace Safety Screenings was founded by ,Tone Trondsen, in 2012 to satisfy the growing need for a 24/7/365 on-site drug and alcohol testing company. Born in Norway to a Merchant Marine Ship Captain and raised in Houston, Tona learned at an early age the importance of quickly accessing and adapting to new situations. It was those same characteristics that inspired her to expand WSS;s service catalog to include Injury Care, Drug & Alcohol Testing, TPA services, Occupational Health Management, Background Screenings, Physicals: annual, fit-for-duty, wellness and more, DNA testing, and COVID-19 vaccination & testing services.

When the COVID-19 pandemic jeopardized the global supply chain, Ms. Trondsen and her WSS team were one of the first companies to help implement the International Seafarer Vaccination Program. Her participation in the program, coupled with her personal history with the maritime industry, led her to launch Port Health Medical Services. Continuing her company’s history of adapting to meet the needs of her clients, she expanded her medical team and added new services under the Port Health division to serve and manage the medical needs of international seafarers while they are docked in foreign ports. Echoing the efficacy WSS's on-site testing, the Port Health team performs medical assessments on-board when a vessel is docked or virtually while at sea, eliminating the time and cost of arranging for transport.
