Welcome to the East End
The Houston East End Chamber of Commerce invites you to experience our community as you use this website. Throughout the site, you will learn about new and increased business, education, cultural arts, unique dining and recreation, as well as economic statistics about the area.
Evident throughout is the area’s intriguing history and the determination that has carried it through lean economic years and into the emerging opportunities of the 21st-century! Today this prime area adjacent to downtown Houston has large vacant tracts of land, functionally obsolete warehouses and industrial properties ready for new high-density mixed-use developments. These land areas are intermixed with neighborhoods of stately Victorian homes and wide boulevards echoing an era awaiting rebirth.
Over half a billion dollars is being invested in the Greater East End, bringing light rail through the heart of this community along with major street beautification, including pavers, trees, pedestrian lighting, street furniture and bike trails. The Houston Maritime Museum and the Houston Rail Road Museum, as well as street markets and cafes, new parks and trails, are being planned for the public.
