On May 10, 2012, members of Independence Parkway FCU voted to approve a proposed merger with Space City Credit Union. The combination of the two credit unions will create a $60MM credit union, moving Space City up twenty-six places on the Texas Credit Union Department’s list of Texas Credit Unions.
Houston, TX – Space City Credit Union and Independent Parkway Credit Union have announced plans to merge this year, with Space City as the continuing credit union. The Board of Directors for both organizations have approved the merger, and approvals from industry regulators are pending. The joining of the two credit unions will result in Space City serving 8,200 members in the Houston and La Porte areas, with assets exceeding $56 million.

American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, formerly the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association, has honored the Valero Houston Refinery with the Distinguished Safety Award for 2011 – AFPM’s most prestigious recognition.

Houston, February 16 – CenterPoint Energy broke ground today to build a new 122,000 square-foot facility where more than 225 natural gas employees will work in Houston’s East End, contributing to the ongoing revitalization of the community east of downtown Houston.

Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston today announced its policy for providing free and reduced-price meals for students served under the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program.
