Valero is known for being one of the most efficient refineries in Houston and the entire nation.  In 2010, Valero Houston Refinery was recognized as the best among Valero’s 14 refineries in the United States. That award can be attributed to having no recordable personal injuries, no recordable threats to the environment and for having the best operating reliability record.

Valero credits their stellar environment and reliability performance to the $600 million invested in the plant over the past 5 years which, in turn, provided thousands of jobs to Houston-area workers and helped fuel the local economy.

Equally as outstanding is Valero’s commitment to the community.  Valero was recently ranked #10 in the Top 100 United Way campaigns in the Houston area, boasting 99% employee participation to total $4 million over the past 13 years.  Employees and citizens joined Valero to start a volunteer program which currently provides more than 4,000 hours of volunteer time each year to efforts such as the Manchester Community Annual Easter Egg Hunt and donating bicycles to disadvantaged East End children through Elves and More.
